1. Information we receive
Information you provide to us:
Information About Yourself. When you sign up on the MakeYourTake Network, you provide us with your first and last name and your email address. You also provide a screen name and a password. After you register, you may choose to provide personal information about yourself such as your gender, birth date and location. You may also provide other information about yourself such as writing a personal bio and sharing your favorite activities and interests. You may also upload a profile picture of yourself.
User Content. You may create, post and share a variety of content with others. Examples include upload a photo, embed a video, send a message, post a comment, create a group, create or post a take, create or vote on a poll, create or post an argument in a debate, ask or answer a question, write an article, create a discussion topic, create a trivia question or quiz, or other content-related features.
Friend Information. After you register, we give you the opportunity to invite your friends to join you on the MakeYourTake Network.
Information we collect:
Usage Tracking. We may collect non-personal information from your use of the Service, such as automatically collect your IP address, browser and computer type, access time, the Web page from which you came, and the Web page(s) that you access during your visit.
Site Activity Information. We may use general information about our members’ activities through the use of the Service that help us, our advertisers, or third party partners understand the interests of our members. Our advertisers may use the information that we provide in order to direct certain types of ads to specific pages where users may have expected interest in the product.
2. Sharing Information on the MakeYourTake Network
This section explains how your privacy settings work, and how your information is shared on the MakeYourTake Network. You should always consider your privacy settings before sharing information on the MakeYourTake Network.
You control what personal information of yours is made public on your profile. Please access and update your Privacy settings on your Account Settings page. You have the option to make your personal information open to “Everyone”, “Only Friends” or “Nobody”.
Information set to “Everyone” is publicly available information. Such information may, for example, be accessed by everyone on the Internet (including people not logged into MakeYourTake), be indexed by third party search engines, and be imported, exported, distributed, and redistributed by us and others without privacy limitations. Such information may also be associated with you, including your screen name and profile picture, even outside of MakeYourTake, such as on public search engines and when you visit other sites on the internet.
Information set to “Only Friends” is information that may be accessed by only your friends on the MakeYourTake Network. The default privacy setting for personal information on your profile is set to “Only Friends”.
Information set to “Nobody” is information that may not be accessed by anyone other than yourself.
List of Privacy Settings. You control what personal information of yours is made public on your profile. You can adjust your Privacy settings for the following:
- Gender, Birth Date and Location
- Personal Bio and favorite interests and activities
- Activity Feed
- Wall Posts
- Allow users to post on your wall
- Allow users to send messages to you
- Favorite Topics
Screen Name and Profile Picture. Your screen name and profile picture do not have privacy settings. If you are uncomfortable with sharing your first and last name, do not use your first and last name as your screen name. If you are uncomfortable with sharing your profile picture, you should not add one.
First and Last Name. Although we require you to enter your first and last name when you register to become a member, we do not display your first and last name on your profile, unless you choose to use your first and last name as your screen name. However, your first and last name is used in invite emails you send to others. Your first and last name is also used in messages you send to friend connections you have on the MakeYourTake Network.
Friend Connections. Your friend connections displayed on your profile are publicly available information and do not have privacy settings.
Gender, Birth Date and Location. If you choose to provide this information, you can edit your profile to hide all (or part) of such fields from other users.
User Content. Any User Content (text, photos, videos, links or other content) you post on the various sections of the MakeYourTake Network, including but not limited to, on your member profile page, on category or topic pages, or on feature pages (including but not limited to, Takes, Polls, Q&A, Debates, Articles, Discussions, Groups, Trivia, Quizzes and Pick’em) in the course of your use of the MakeYourTake Network is publicly available and can be collected and used by others. Your screen name is displayed to others in connection with the content you create and post. Any publicly available information that you post on the MakeYourTake Network may be redistributed through the internet and may be viewed by the general public. If you identify any content as private, only your friend connections on the MakeYourTake Network and other users (including members and non-members of the MakeYourTake Network) with whom you share the content will be able to view and interact with said private content.
3. Communications from MakeYourTake
You agree to have your first and last name, profile details and/or contact details listed in certain email communications that you initiate through the MakeYourTake Service, such as inviting a friend to the Sites or sending a message to a friend on the Sites.
4. How We Use Your Information
Social sharing of User Content: MakeYourTake allows other users to publicly see and interact with User Content that you have created, participated in, or commented on. User Content that has been identified as private is not publicly accessible.
Syndication: MakeYourTake allows for the RSS syndication of all of its public content within the website.
API: MakeYourTake may allow third parties access to all MakeYourTake data that is already publicly available through the MakeYourTake Network through an application program interface that allows other programs to interact with the Site.
Traffic data: MakeYourTake uses this traffic data, including information gathered from cookies, to help diagnose problems with our servers, analyze trends, research the market for our services, and administer the website.
5. Our Information Sharing Practices
We will not rent nor sell your personal information to anyone. We share your personal information only as described below.
With Your Consent: Except as set forth above, you will be notified when your personal information may be shared with third parties or used for a purpose incompatible with the purpose(s) for which it was originally collected, and you will be able to prevent the sharing of this information by opting out.
We have implemented reasonable measures to help protect your User Information from loss, misuse, or unauthorized access or disclosure. Unfortunately, however, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your User Information, we cannot guarantee its security.
7. Children’s Privacy
We are committed to protecting the privacy needs of children and we encourage parents and guardians to take an active role in their children’s online activities and interests. The Sites are not intended for and may not be used by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13 and we do not target the Sites to children under the age of 13.
8. Information Retention and Disposal
We may retain personal information for as long as we have a business need for it or as applicable laws or regulations or government orders require us to retain it. Additionally, the Service may enable you (or other users) to save information including information that you have made public or allowed certain users to access or see.
9. Third Party Links and Cookies
The Sites contain links to web sites of third parties. MakeYourTake is not responsible for the actions of these third parties, including their privacy practices and any content posted on their web sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies to learn more about what, why and how they collect and use personal information. MakeYourTake adheres to industry recognized standards to secure any personal information in our possession, and to secure it from unauthorized access and tampering. However, as is true with all online actions, it is possible that third parties may unlawfully intercept transmissions of personal information, or other users of the Sites may misuse or abuse your personal information that they may collect from the Sites.
MakeYourTake uses third-party advertising companies to serve our ads on the Sites. These third-party advertising companies employ cookie and 1x1 pixel .gifs or web beacons to measure and improve the effectiveness of ads for their clients. To do so, these companies may use anonymous information about your visits to our website and other websites, but will not collect any information which can personally identify you or can be linked to you. This information can include: date/time of banner ad shown, the banner ad that was shown, their cookie, and the IP address. This information can also be used for online preference marketing purposes.
If you want to prevent a third-party advertiser from collecting data, currently you may either visit each ad network's web site individually and opt out or visit the NAI gateway opt-out site to opt-out of all network advertising cookies.
